NGC 7009 40 X 30 arc seconds Mag 8.3 - central star Mag 12.8 20" F4.5 @ 440X

NGC 7009 also called the Saturn Nebula is an unusual shaped planetary in the constellation Aquarius.  It was first observed by William Herschel in 1782.  In 1850 Lord Rosse dubbed it the "Saturn" nebula when he observed the faint extentions.  It displays a blueish green color and much detail in the disk at this aperature.  NGC 7009 lies about 2900 light years away.  Location:  Tierra del Sol, CA.  NELM 6.5, Seeing Pickering 6.
